The city of Mesa continues to assess financial damages after Monday’s flood that left more than 100 homes in knee-deep water.

Mesa spokesman Steven Wright said survey teams are going door to door asking residents to estimate what it would cost to repair their property.

“All that information is being fed into a system that the county manages and that is absolutely critical for us to get that information in order to make a appropriate request for assistance through FEMA,” Wright said.

He said there’s no guarantee the Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide relief funding.

Meanwhile, Wright said Mesa has placed 30 industrial-size trash bins in the neighborhood so people can get rid of their soggy flooring and drywall.
