Brewer To Meet Obama At Airport On Arrival To Phoenix

August 05, 2013

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer will once again meet President Obama on the airport tarmac Tuesday when the president visits the Valley for a speech on housing at Desert Vista High School. Last time that happened, the president found himself with a gubernatorial finger in the face, but the governor's press aide, Andrew Wilder, does not expect that this time around.

“It is going to be a cordial meet and greeting of the president on the tarmac,” Wilder said. “We're looking forward to it.”

Instead of a finger in the face, Wilder said, “she will be extending her hand in welcoming him to the state of Arizona.”

Wilder says the governor wants to discuss the state's pending application for an emergency declaration in the wake of the Yarnell Hill Wildfire with the president.
