Staff Changes And The Future Of Arizona Theatre Company

August 07, 2013

A few weeks ago, we talked with the longtime artistic director of Arizona Theatre Company, David Ira Goldstein, about his plans to retire from the company following two decades in charge. It was around that time The Arizona Republic reported the company was $1 million in the red. Unlike some other arts organizations in the state, ATC is not one that typically suffered through such harsh financial struggles even as the recession made life much more difficult.

Within the past few days, we have learned that the company's managing director Mark Cole has resigned, and Goldstein will hold off on his retirement until next summer. So for at least the next 10 months, he will be reunited with Jessica Andrews. The former ATC executive director is returning as interim managing director.
