University Of Arizona Football Stadium Construction Work Is Finished
The remodeling of the University of Arizona football stadium is finally complete after two years of construction in Tucson. The $72 million project includes the installation of 4,000 new seats in the north end zone. Restaurants and concession stands were built on the stadium’s north end too. U of A players also now have updated weight training and sports medicine facilities.
UA Athletics spokesman James Francis said it is one of the biggest improvement projects at the stadium since it opened in 1926.
“For folks who’ve been around Tucson and who’ve been Arizona Wildcat fans for a number of years, we have not done something this significant for our program, and so what that says is that Arizona football has made a commitment to being nationally relevant,” said Francis.
A ribbon cutting ceremony happens at the Wildcat Football stadium Saturday afternoon, and a scrimmage game will follow. The project was completed under budget and on time, with nearly a third of the money coming from private donors.
