McCain Wants Resolution For Full Syria Strike

September 03, 2013

Arizona Sen. John McCain met with President Obama Monday to discuss the possibility of limited strikes on Syria. McCain told NPR’s Steve Inskeep Tuesday that he believes approving the resolution is an absolute necessity.

“If we vote down this resolution, it sends a terrible message to the world, that the president of the United States said the United States will act and then the United States doesn’t act,” McCain said. “So, I think it would be very serious if we voted down this resolution.”

But, the issue still remains undecided. Despite his strong opinions, McCain says he still feels he would be unable to support the resolution if it only calls for a couple of airstrikes and would make no impact on the ground.
