The state will release August’s unemployment numbers next week. July’s rate was the same as June’s, 8 percent which was almost half a percent lower than last July, but are the jobs being added in Arizona good jobs? Michael Hayes said no. He owns Momentum Specialized Staffing Services in Phoenix.

Dennis Hoffman has an explanation for the kinds of jobs Arizona has been adding. The economics professor at the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University said the state’s restoring many of the jobs it lost during the recession, and many of those were low-skilled, low-income ones. He is taking a glass half full approach and cites an Arizona Department of Administration report.
