Yavapai County may get some help paying for wildfire damage, if the Small Business Administration responds positively to a letter sent by Governor Doug Ducey.

More than 25,000 acres in Yavapai County were burned in a wildfire that broke out in late June. Ducey declared a state of emergency and visited the fire site to meet with displaced residents. Now, the governor is requesting disaster loan assistance for those impacted, from the Small Business Administration.

An assessment identified 14 destroyed homes and over 100 homes with damage. If Ducey’s letter is accepted and approved by the SBA, residents will be able to apply for small-interest loans through what’s called ‘the Disaster Loan Program’ and pay for the costs of rebuilding and repairs.
