Arizona Chamber Of Commerce Calls On Officials To End Shutdown

October 07, 2013

As the federal government shutdown continues, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry is condemning members of Congress and the president.

CEO Glen Hammer is calling on officials in Washington to do what’s right for the country by ending the impasse.

“We need the president and the Congress to act like adults and figure out a way to bridge the differences,” Hammer said. “If not, there’s going to be an incredible amount of unnecessary economic pain.”

Hammer says he’s most concerned about the shutdown’s impact on tourism, with the closure of attractions like the Grand Canyon. He says the canyon alone has a nearly $2 million-per-day economic impact on Arizona.
