Proposed Routes For Interstate 11 Between Phoenix And Las Vegas To Be Unveiled
Anyone interested in a proposed interstate between Phoenix and Las Vegas can learn more about the project this week. Public meetings on Interstate 11 will be held in Avondale Tuesday night and later in Kingman and Tucson.

Transportation officials in Arizona and Nevada still have not identified a way to pay for the multi-billion dollar project, but recent studies show an interstate, that could eventually link Mexico to Canada, is needed for economic growth in the area.
Arizona Department of Transportation spokeswoman Laura Douglas said construction on the first leg of the project might begin within the next decade, and it might follow the existing highway between Phoenix and Las Vegas.
“U.S. 93 was congressionally designated as the potential route for Interstate 11. We don’t know if it will exactly take that route of US 93, and if it does US 93 would have to be built to Interstate standards,” said Douglas.
Douglas said it is possible that people driving on I-11 would have to pay tolls. She said ADOT and the Nevada Department of Transportation will do another year of research on the proposal before a recommendation is made for its federal approval.
