Abrazo Health Network announced Wednesday that it is closing its Maryvale campus at the end of the year.

The company says community demand for its Maryvale facility has fallen significantly enough in the last few years to shut it down.

About 300 Abrazo employees will be affected and some will be re-assigned to other facilities.

The company says it is in talks with other parties who could use the campus for health-care-related purposes.

Abrazo officials declined a request for interview. In a written statement, officials said it was a difficult decision.

The emergency room closes Dec. 17, and the entire campus closes Dec. 18.
