A former University of Arizona basketball star has given $1 million to help renovate McKale Center. Steve Kerr and his wife Margo, who’s also a UofA alum, have pledged the money toward renovations which began in May.

The project will impact all 20 of the Tucson school's sports programs, but specifically men's and women's sports, which use McKale as their competition site.

Renovations are expected to be finished by the start of the basketball season. The first part of the project was completed earlier this year.

Kerr is starting his first season as head coach of the NBA's Golden State Warriors. He also served as the Suns’ general manager from 2007-10. Kerr played for the Wildcats from 1983-88.
