Carabiners Recalled By Consumer Product Safety Commission
It's been a popular activity for the past several years to spend the day after Thanksgiving outside, instead of shopping. If that's on your list this year, check your equipment first.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of branded carabiners which may cause injury or death.
Carabiners are typically used to allow ropes and harnesses to be linked together in rock climbing and scuba diving.
The recall is for Omega Pacific G-FIRST series aluminum carabiners. “Omega-17 Classified USA” is printed on the front and the two digit lot code “OD” is embedded on the bottom side of the carabiner spine. They were sold individually in silver, black and red colors from February through October of this year at Arizona Hiking Shack in Phoenix and about eight other hiking and diving stores nationwide.
