In another chapter in the ongoing Scottsdale Unified School District controversy, the Scottsdale Education Association is calling for the resignation of Governing Board President Barbara Perleberg.

Earlier this week, School Superintendent Denise Birdwell was placed on administrative leave in the midst of an investigation by the Arizona Attorney General.

In a letter to the school board, the teacher’s association said “Amidst escalating news reports on the failed management team, you ignored and disparaged Scottsdale community and staff members calling them ‘irresponsible fear-mongers.'”

The governing board had voted to stop construction on two voter approved projects and put a new administrator in charge of the district.

The letter also asks the district to retain an independent auditor and forensic accountant to review spending by Superintendent Birdwell.

Two other senior administration officials have also resigned from the district in the last several weeks.
