For the third straight day, several Southwest Airlines flights have been cancelled out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, as the airline continues to cancel flights across the country.

Southwest is conducting full inspections of aircraft engines, after a shattered fan blade caused an engine explosion on a flight last week that killed a passenger and led to an emergency landing.

Seventeen Southwest flights had been cancelled on Tuesday at Sky Harbor, a day after 30 flights were cancelled. More cancellations are expected, and other carriers that fly Boeing 737 aircraft also may be affected as they inspect their fleets.

Airport officials encourage travelers to check their flight status with their airline before they fly.
