Hotter Temperatures Expected As Arizona's Tinder Fire Grows
The Tinder Fire has burned for nearly a week in Coconino County, and so far, lower winds and high humidity have helped keep the progression of the fire down.
But temperatures are expected to rise soon — and hotter temperatues make for more active flames.
Joel Barnett is with the incident management team fighting the blaze burning in north-central Arizona.
"We’re working really hard today to secure the fire lines and control lines that we do have, so that as that fuel, you know, dries out, it doesn’t flair back up," he said.
Barnett said humidity is expected to continue falling Thursday.
The Tinder Fire now stands at more than 12,000 acres and is 48 percent contained.
