Investors in Sturm, Ruger and Company voted Wednesday at its stockholder meeting in Prescott to require the gun maker to produce a report of its products. The company plans to report on how it monitors the use of its products in violent crimes, like mass shootings, and how it could make safer firearms.

Some of the company’s investors, who sponsored the resolution, include faith-based organizations. Colleen Scanlon is the Senior Vice President at Catholic Health Initiatives, which operates hospitals and clinics nationwide

“Our hope is that this will lead to less gun violence," Scanlon said, "and that our communities and streets and schools and churches will be safer, particularly for our children.”

Gun makers have been under public pressure after multiple mass shootings over the past several years, including at a high school in Parkland, Florida this past February.
