The NFL is set to award the host cities for future Super Bowls this week at an owners meeting in Atlanta, and reports say the Big Game will return to Arizona.

The owners will vote Wednesday on the sites of Super Bowls LVII and LVIII, and they are reportedly set to grant Glendale and University of Phoenix Stadium Super Bowl LVII in 2023. New Orleans will reportedly be granted Super Bowl LVIII the following year.

Daniel Kaplan is an NFL writer for the SportsBusiness Journal. He said the league is using a new process for awarding Super Bowls, and there are no longer multiple cities bidding for a particular game.

“Most people have heard the complaint about games going to areas like Minneapolis, Indianapolis — cold-weather sites," Kaplan said, "and the league has heard that, and they want to put the Super Bowl back in places where people want to go to.”

Kaplan said the league is now negotiating with individual cities for individual games.

"If they come to terms with that city as they have with Glendale," Kaplan said, "then that proposal is put forward to the owners for a vote."

Should the owners approve of the 2023 game, it will be the fourth Super Bowl played in Arizona, and the third in Glendale. University of Phoenix Stadium hosted Super Bowl XLII in 2008 and Super Bowl XLIX in 2015. Sun Devil Stadium hosted Super Bowl XXX in 1996.

The City of Glendale and the Arizona Cardinals each declined comment until the vote takes place.
