Those specialty license plates are bringing in a lot of money.

For the first time, the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Division collected more than $10 million for veteran’s services, families of fallen first responders, cancer research and other causes.

Specialty plates typically cost $25. Of that, $17 goes to the benefiting organization. ADOT lists more than 70 license plate options on their website.

“The specialty plate program is a real point of pride for Arizona and is a tremendous success,” said Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division Director Eric Jorgensen in a press release. “Seeing this kind of continued growth proves Arizonans are both generous and eager to support great causes.”

The program was established in 1989.
