A new report aims to show the internal issues that led to people standing for hours waiting to vote in Arizona’s presidential primary in March of 2016.

The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office had Jeffrey Mason analyze what happened. The report concluded under-funding and limited resources caused those long lines and disenfranchised voters. But Mason says the recorder’s office refused to publish the report, so he quit his job and took it to the Arizona Republic instead.
