St. Mary’s Food Bank sent a truckload of food to Tallahassee, Florida Wednesday for people affected by Hurricane Michael. This is the third time since August St. Mary’s has been asked to provide hurricane relief. And Jerry Brown of Saint Mary’s Food bank said it’s likely not the last time.

“We may well be asked for more than a truckload from this one. I mean we’ve seen cities down there that basically don’t exist anymore, they’ve just been wiped out. So there’s a lot of need down there in the area," Brown said. 

Now that search and rescue efforts have slowed after the hurricane, relief agencies are focused on providing food and water to people displaced from their homes or without power.

Brown said hurricane donations are leaving Saint Mary’s short on food for the upcoming holidays.

“We don’t want to say no to anyone who’s in a situation like the folks in Florida and North Carolina have found themselves in. It’s a horrible situation, Arizonans want to help, and we do that through our role as a first responder. But we need help to replenish our supplies so that we can say yes to all Arizonans who need food help," Brown said. 

Brown said St. Mary’s likely will be asked for help again, and that people can make cash donations online or food donations at their local Goodwill.
