A ribbon is cut at the end of a WWI re-dedication ceremony in Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza.

100 years have passed since the end of World War I, but those who served have not been forgotten. Arizona’s monument for World War I military veterans was re-dedicated at a ceremony Sunday.

Veterans and civilians alike gathered to see the restored monument in Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza. David Lucier served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 with the Green Berets. He is also the president of the Arizona Veterans and Military Leadership Alliance.

“We came here to remember our comrades in arms from World War I and we do that for them because there’s no one left to stand for them," Lucier said. " So we step forward to do that.”

The monument's logo had been vandalized. It now features a replicated logo as well as two brand new plaques.
