The justices of the Arizona Supreme Court have elected a new chief. Robert Brutinel will take over from current Chief Justice Scott Bales on July 1.

The panel has seven judges in all.

Brutinel is currently Vice-Chief Justice. After moving to Chief, he will handle case work and manage the administration of all Arizona courts. He is originally from Prescott and has been on the court since former Gov. Jan Brewer appointed him in 2010.
