A little girl in Mexico attached a Christmas wish list to a balloon and sent it aloft and a man in Patagonia, Arizona, discovered it.

Randy Heiss was walking his dog last week when he stumbled upon the child’s balloon. After realizing what it was, Heiss decided to make the girl’s Christmas wishes come true.

Speaking on NPR’s Weekend Edition, Heiss said he tracked her down with the help of a radio station in Nogales, Mexico.

“So we get the gifts and we had to wrap them before the family showed up and we were Santa’s little helpers there,” Heiss said. “So it was a just joyous experience, very heart-warming.”

Heiss said some of the items on her list were coloring books, magic markers and paints.

“You know, that little girl sent that balloon up in the air with faith that somebody would find it and that her Christmas wishes would come true,” Heiss said. “I wanted to make sure that I gave it the very best chances of that happening.”
