The 76th Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe Awards were handed out last night, kicking off the Hollywood awards season. Jokingly referred to as the "Oscars’ drunk cousin," the ceremony celebrates TV and film and is known for its relaxed attitude and, sometimes, surprise winners.

Last night’s ceremony, hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh, stood in contrast to last year’s Golden Globes, which were dominated by the #MeToo and Time’s Up movement.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" — the biopic about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury — was the evening’s big winner with wins for best actor Rami Malek and Best Drama.

The movie beat out the critically acclaimed "A Star is Born," which garnered four nominations but snagged only one globe for Best Song.

And, despite the hype, the Dick Cheney biopic "Vice" — which entered the evening with the most nominations — took home just one award for leading actor Christian Bale.

Actress Sandra Oh made history as the first Asian American woman to host the Golden Globes. On top of that, she won the best actress award for the series "Killing Eve," which seemed to surprise her as much as anyone.

Other winners from last night’s ceremony include Glenn Close as Best Actress in a Drama for her role in "The Wife," over Lady Gaga in "A Star is Born," who was heavily favored going into the show. Olivia Colman picked up that award in the comedy category for her role in "The Favourite."

The film "Green Book" won the awards for Best Comedy or Musical. The film's co-star Mehershala Ali also won the best supporting actor statue.

And, even as the winner’s glow from last night has barely worn off, eyes now turn to the Oscars. Voting for nominations starts Monday.
