Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is warning consumers to review and update their online accounts after hackers exposed millions of email addresses and passwords.

Brnovich issued the warning after global security research discovered nearly 773 million emails and more than 21 million passwords were exposed in an online database known as "Collection #1."

It includes records from data breaches going as far back as 2008 and from thousands of different sources.

Brnovich said the cybercriminals are using the data to commit various intrusions including "credential stuffing" where passwords discovered in one account are used to hack into others.

His office suggests Arizonans enlist a credit monitoring system and adopt a password manager to generate unique codes.
