Arizona Joins 22 Other Pro Gun States Challenging A New Jersey Gun Law
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is backing nearly two dozen other states asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a New Jersey gun law.
They want justices to clarify an individual's right to carry a handgun in public since a New Jersey lower court upheld a law restricting citizens from carrying a gun outside their home without having demonstrated a "justifiable need."
Meanwhile, in Hawaii, another lower court struck down a similar law.
"What we are challenging is that the justifiable need requirement in New Jersey is essentially a de facto ban for law abiding citizens to carry handguns outside of their home," said AG spokesperson Ryan Anderson.
Arizona is rated number one in the nation by gun advocates for defending second amendment rights.
Arizona and the other states challenging the ruling are all on the gun advocates list of favored states, including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
