"The Music of What Happens" by Bill Konigsberg.

Bill Konigsberg was a sports writer for AP and ESPN, and he is gay. The last fact shouldn’t be relevant to the first, but Konigsberg found out it really was.

He wrote about this experience, being out in the world of sports, how that world still struggles with homophobia and then barriers to his job. His efforts won him a coveted LAMDA award.

The Gilbert resident then turned his talents to fiction, writing for an audience of young adults struggling with their own, fledgling understanding of being LGBTQ.

His first book focused on a teen football player who has to reveal his sexuality to his teammates. Could he still be one of the guys and be honest about who he is?

These are subjects Konigsberg regularly takes on, and he joined The Show.
