Arizona Support For Higher Education Decreases — Some Want To Change That

After years of cuts to funding for Arizona’s public universities, some lawmakers want the state to chip in an extra $102 million for the upcoming school year. That number would triple over the next couple years if Senate Bill 1518 becomes law.

According to the Arizona Board of Regents, state support for higher education is currently 34 percent of the total cost.

In The Show's conversation with Board Chair Ron Shoopman on Monday, he said that’s a significant decrease.
