Utah Lawmakers Block Medicaid Expansion Despite Voter Approval

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert signed a bill Monday scaling back a voter-approved expansion of the state’s Medicaid program.

In November, Utahns voted to cover an estimated 150,000 residents under Medicaid. But GOP lawmakers and the governor argue the state can’t afford that, which led to the approval of Senate Bill 96.
