The Arizona Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center Sustains Winter Storm Damage
Last week’s winter storm brought snow to parts of Scottsdale. One wildlife refuge near the city saw extensive damage as a result of that precipitation.
The Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center said it sustained at least $50,000 worth of damage from the storm. Several animal enclosures housing bobcats, wolves and coyotes were affected.
“We’re trying to get everything cleaned up," said Linda Searles, the center’s founder and executive director, "because baby season is right around the corner and that is our busiest time of year when the little orphans starting coming in.”
The center said that no animals were hurt, but they are lacking funds to repair those structures and burst pipes.
The nonprofit is now seeking donations and grants for emergency funding.
