Authorities say a jaguar attacked a woman who crossed a barrier while trying to take a photo Saturday at a wildlife park near Litchfield Park.

Wildlife World Zoo authorities say emergency responders took the woman, who is in her 30s, to a hospital to treat cuts on one of her arms and hand.

Zoo officials say the jaguar never got out of her enclosure and won't be put down because of the incident, which is being fully investigated.

Mickey Ollson, director at Wildlife World Zoo, said animals are not at fault if guests cross into enclosures.

"The main lesson is barriers in zoological parks are there for a reason," Ollson said. "And visitors should always use caution and they shouldn't be crossing barriers."

Ollson said the incident is under investigation and that nothing will happen to the jaguar.

The private facility has more than 600 species and 6,000 animals on display.
