Arizona Congressional Members On Judiciary Committee Split On Mueller Report
It was a split along party lines Wednesday as the Congressional House Judiciary Committee voted to allow subpoenaing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s full report without redactions.
Of the 41 seats on the Democratic-controlled committee, three are from Arizona: Greg Stanton, Debbie Lesko and Andy Biggs.
Stanton, Arizona’s sole freshman and Democrat among the three, voted in favor of authorizing subpoenas for the full report.
“The American people have the right to see the entire Mueller report,” he said. “The American people paid for that report and transparency is incredibly important.”
As a whole, Republicans voted against granting subpoena power. Lesko among them called it a distraction designed to undermine the president.
She told members before the vote was taken, “the public really wants us to work on big issues together, and I ask my Democratic colleagues to do that and quit this circus.”
Democrats overruled Republican members giving their Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler permission to subpoena Mueller’s unredacted report and all evidence collected in the nearly two year investigation.
