The online news publication "Indian Country Today" is moving its operations to ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.

Christopher Callahan, Dean of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, says the move will give students more opportunities to cover Native American communities, as well as recruit more Native American journalism students.

"Native Americans are wildly under-represented in US Newsrooms," Callahan said.

"The last figures I saw from the American Society of News Editors was something like one-third of one-percent of all newsroom employees in the country today identified as Native American."

Callahan says there are also plans to create the first-ever national TV news program specifically for Native Americans.

"Indian Country Today" started as a weekly newspaper in 1981.
