The Trump administration is expected to file a proposal soon to end work visas for the spouses of those who are in the country on H1-B visas, which go to highly-skilled workers often brought into the country by tech companies.

There are about 100,000 H-4 visa holders who could lose the ability to work if the administration follows through on the measure, many of which are Indian women whose husbands were hired in America.

Natalie Tynan is a senior attorney who focuses on immigration issues with Hunton Andrews Kurth, who used to work for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. 

Tynan said, while the Obama administration granted these work visas for the first time in 2015, priorities under the Trump administration are very different.
