A United Express commuter flight from San Francisco to San Antonio was diverted to Sky Harbor International Airport Thursday afternoon, after an unspecified on-board threat. Phoenix Police Sergeant Steve Martos says the plane was twice searched by the bomb squad.

“The safety of the passengers and the crew is extremely critical and so that decision was made that they were going to land here at Sky Harbor and again out of an abundance of caution,” Martos said.

SkyWest Airlines Flight 5573 landed at 4:45 with 42 passengers and a crew of four.  The plane was isolated on the northwest side of the airport, during the search and caused no flight delays.
