Community college district employees could see larger paychecks starting in July if the governing board approves a pay increase next week.

The Maricopa County Community College District chief operating officer presented budget requests at a special governing board meeting Tuesday.

Those requests included a 2 percent raise or at least $1,000 for all full-time faculty and classified staff. Adjunct faculty and temporary hourly employees would also get a pay raise.

The new salaries still need to be approved at the next governing board meeting.

The board will also consider whether to increase property taxes by 2 percent next Wednesday. At the special board meeting, the COO said this change, when combined with another tax change, would not increase the overall tax rate.
