Jared Loughner has pleaded guilty to 19 counts in the Tucson shooting rampage that killed six people and wounded 13 others, including former-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Loughner entered the plea Tuesday after a federal judge found him mentally competent, following months of forced treatment for schizophrenia.

Engineers try to contain and eliminate the water, and environmentalists try to recycle it, but some desert animals need these temporary pools to stick around.

A 2-year-old Mesa girl has died after police say she was found malnourished and dehydrated in her home in more than 100-degree temperatures.The girl's 1-year-old brother, who was also in the home at the time, was hospitalized and will be placed by Child Protective Services after his release.
