Trump Administration Ends Temporary Protected Status For Salvadorans

The Trump administration has ended a program known as Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, for citizens of El Salvador.

That means roughly 200,000 Salvadorans will have to leave the U.S. by September of next year. TPS status for citizens of Haiti and Nicaragua have also been ended.

Marcela Evans is the Children’s Program Attorney with Human Rights Initiative of North Texas in Dallas, a nonprofit that provides free legal services to survivors of human rights abuses in their home countries and in the U.S.
