UA Formally Introduces Kevin Sumlin As Head Football Coach

The University of Arizona formally introduced Kevin Sumlin as the Wildcats’ new head football coach Tuesday in Tucson.

The 53-year-old Sumlin was asked right off the bat about being the program’s first African-American head man.

“I’m not being disrespectful to that accomplishment or to the question, but I think the goal is that that question is not only not asked, but is not the first question that comes out,” Sumlin said.

Sumlin, who spent six seasons coaching at Texas A&M University, replaces Rich Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was fired by the UA earlier this month amid sexual harassment allegations and claims that he ran a hostile workplace.
