Attorneys General Urge Against Census Question About Citizenship Status

Preparations are already underway for the 2020 Census, and the process has hit some controversy.

A group of nearly 20 Democratic attorneys general has asked the Commerce Secretary to deny a request from the Justice Department to include a question about respondents’ citizenship status.

And, that’s just one of the questions about Census questions.

Terri Ann Lowenthal is a former longtime staff director for the U.S. House subcommittee that oversees the Census. She now consults on census-related issues.
