The ASU Student Government has approved a bill to expand its health and wellness services through a rise in student tuition fees.

Starting in the fall 2018 semester, the school’s Student Health and Wellness Fee will be increased by $15 per student per semester.

Jackson Dangremond is president of the Undergraduate Student Government at the ASU Downtown Campus. He says the bill would extend health services hours during the week and on weekends, as well as increase access to specialized care.

"Stuff like sports medicine, women’s health, nutritionists, and other things like masseuses and chiropractors, but then additionally cool things as well such as the implementation of telehealth," Dangremond said.

Telehealth would allow students to Skype in to doctor’s appointments.

ASU's health fee is low compared to other colleges. ASU's health and recreation fees totaled $130 per year before the increase. Similar fees at University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University are $425 and $500 respectively.
