The job fair on April 10 will be held at Rio Salado College at Price Road and Southern Avenue in Tempe.

With Arizona’s unemployment rate around five percent, many companies struggle to find workers. But one job fair hopes to close the gap by connecting employers with potential employees they may have overlooked.

More than 300 people are expected to attend the Autism Job Fair on Tuesday, April 10. Organized by the Arizona Department of Economic Security, the event will include 16 employers and 10 resource providers.

The fair aims to educate employers about hiring adults on the autism spectrum and provide job seekers with information on networking and interviewing. Nationally, more than 80 percent of adults with autism are unemployed.

The job fair runs from 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Rio Salado College, 3320 South Price Road, Tempe, AZ 85282.

DES has vocational counselors available to help people with sensory sensitivities and other disabilities find long-term employment. Other groups supporting the DES Autism Job Fair are the Autism Society of Greater Phoenix, Arizona State University and Rio Salado College.
