The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a request from the County Recorder’s Office for additional election technology.

The motion authorizes spending $4 million on the new election equipment. County elections officials say it will allow them to expand their use of SiteBooks, which sign people in more quickly.

The money is also for purchasing at least 40 ballot-on-demand printers. That means some locations will let anyone vote there, even if it’s not their precinct.

The new technology should be in place by the August primary. The County Recorder’s Office anticipates 243,417 people will vote in-person on Election Day in November. Early voting will bring in the vast majority of voters, an anticipated 973,667.
