A recent op-ed in the New York Times, headlined "The Boys Are Not All Right," says “America’s boys are broken. And it’s killing us,” referencing the number of mass shootings carried out by young men.

Actor Michael Ian Black, who wrote the piece, argues that while girls still face lots of obstacles, they’re “increasingly well equipped to take them on.”

Meanwhile, he writes, “too many boys are trapped in the same suffocating, outdated model of masculinity, where manhood is measured in strength, where there is no way to be vulnerable without being emasculated, where manliness is about having power over others.”
