Journalism is Senior Field Correspondent Matthew Casey's second career. His first was in the restaurant business, where he learned Spanish while working alongside immigrants as a cook, server and bartender.
Before joining KJZZ, Casey covered several Arizona wildfires, Super Bowl XLIX, and the Valley's connection to the attack on the "Draw the Prophet Mohammed" contest in Garland, Texas as a public safety reporter for the Arizona Republic.
He is a University of Arizona alumnus and has also worked for La Voz, CNN.com, WSB-TV in Atlanta and The Laramie Boomerang.
In 2006, Casey reported on Mexico's presidential election from Mexico City for Inside Tucson Business.
When he isn't chasing stories, Casey enjoys playing pick-up basketball, attending UA football games and exploring Cochise County.
