Journalism is Matthew Casey's second career. His first was in the restaurant business, where he learned Spanish while working alongside immigrants as a cook, server and bartender.
Before joining KJZZ as a senior field correspondent, Casey covered public safety and breaking news for The Arizona Republic. He is a University of Arizona alumnus and has also worked for La Voz Arizona, CNN.com, WSB-TV in Atlanta and The Laramie Boomerang. In 2006, Casey reported on Mexico's presidential election from Mexico City for Inside Tucson Business.
When he isn't chasing stories, Casey enjoys playing pick-up basketball, attending UA football games and exploring Cochise County.
