Presidential Candidates To Address Native American Issues At First Of It's Kind Forum
The National Congress of American Indians and Four Directions will host a first-ever presidential candidate forum to address issues facing Native Americans on Aug. 19 in Iowa.
Tribal leaders and youth will have the opportunity to ask the candidates questions about Native Americans' most pressing issues such as tribal sovereignty, protecting sacred sites from resource extraction and health care.
One independent and eight Democrats have confirmed they will participate in the non-partisan forum. They include Steve Bullock, Julian Castro, Mark Charles, Bill de Blasio, John Delaney, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Marianne Williamson. Candidates from all major parties received invitations.
