House Ethics Committee to hear complaint against Patterson

March 09, 2012

The Arizona House of Representative’s Ethics Committee will meet this coming week to hear an ethics complaint filed against a Tucson Democrat. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.

MARK BRODIE: Late last month, Democratic members of the House called on their colleague Daniel Patterson to resign. Senate Democratic leaders did the same.

Phoenix Democratic Representative Katie Hobbs filed an ethics complaint against Patterson, accusing him of being involved in domestic violence in incidents with his former girlfriend and campaign manager.

Patterson has denied that, but he’s been charged in Tucson City Court with four misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. Patterson has pleaded not guilty. If the ethics committee decides to investigate the complaint, it could vote to ask the full House to remove Patterson from office.
