Gov. Ducey Selects Temporary Director For Arizona Department Of Corrections
On Wednesday, Gov. Doug Ducey announced a temporary replacement to head the Arizona Department of Corrections.
Director Charles Ryan will retire on Friday, and his second in command, Deputy Director Joe Profiri, will temporarily take his place.
The Governor’s Office said Profiri will serve as acting director while a nationwide search is conducted for a permanent replacement.
Gilbert Davidson, chief of operations for the Governor’s Office, said in a letter to ADC staff the role of director is a position it takes seriously.
According to ADC, the director oversees more than 9,000 employees. The Arizona Department of Corrections is one of the largest state agencies, with an annual budget exceeding a billion dollars.
