The Arizona Attorney General’s Office has busted another car repair shop in its ongoing series of stings. This time, Attorney General Tom Horne said a Fletcher’s Tire and Auto in Gilbert made an unnecessary repair to the air conditioning unit of a vehicle taken in by an undercover agent.

“What we do is we put little cameras in the hood so we see what they do and they didn’t even do a diagnostic. They just made it up, that we needed the replacement, which it didn’t need," said Horne.

Horne said the sting resulted in a $28,000 fine against Fletcher’s which operates multiple repair shops across Arizona. The shop also charged the undercover agent for additional parts warranties, without permission. Horne said the stings are useful in scaring off other businesses that might be thinking about cheating people.
